Nominate Community Champions

If you know someone who does something special for a friend, a neighbour or the local community – tell us about it by sending us a nomination form.

See 2015's community champions.

A new scheme launched by us is seeking to recognise those who go the extra mile to help improve life for individuals, or the town as a whole. The first of the Awards were presented in December 2004 and in spite of a flood of nominations, we are looking for more.

Cllr Ann Stribley, who founded the scheme, said: "I'm absolutely delighted that we've had so many nominations. We knew there was a great deal of work going on in the community but it is still wonderful to see just how much there is. These are the people who make Poole such as special place. The Community Champions Award is just one way we can reward the dedication and hard work of those individuals who do so much for the town and its people and hopefully, it will encourage even more people to take part."

The award sets three levels of achievement - blue, silver and gold, designed to encourage people to continue their good work. Nominations should be submitted to us and successful nominees will be presented with a unique lapel pin, together with a certificate, in recognition of good citizenship.

The award is designed to recognise the small things that so often go unnoticed but that make a big difference to other people or to the town – for example doing the shopping for an elderly neighbour or organising litter picks in your local area.

Anyone can nominate an individual or group they feel has contributed to Poole or to the local community and nominations can be sent in at any time. If you would like more information about the awards, please contact Democratic Services.
