Your Borough Of Poole

Virtually all workplaces and substantially enclosed public areas in England are smokefree by law.

This includes

  • offices,

  • factories,

  • shops,

  • pubs,

  • bars,

  • restaurants,

  • membership clubs,

  • public transport,

  • work vehicles that are used by more than one person, and

  • communal areas of residential blocks of flats.

Indoor workplace smoking rooms have disappeared. So anyone wishing to smoke will have to go outside.

Smokefree legislation is implemented within smokefree regulations, made under powers within the smokefree parts of the Health Act 2006.

Details of how this new law affects your business can be found at on the Direct Gov website.

For further information as to how these regulations affect Poole businesses and residents you can download and print our information leaflet on this page.

NB: The phone number for the Stop Smoking Service for Bournemouth and Poole referred to in the 'Smokefree' download has been updated to Tel: 0300 30 38 038.
