South Western Crescent, Copeland Drive, Lilliput Court - Site Investigation

The Site Investigation

The Borough of Poole has investigated a site at South Western Crescent, Copeland Drive, and some of the surrounding area under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

The land is a residential area built on the site of the former South Western Pottery and associated infilled clay pits.

The inspection was undertaken to ensure local people and the environment were not at risk from potential pollution from the site’s former use.

The inspection was completed in accordance with our statutory duty and  the Council's Contaminated Land Strategy.  Further information regarding the history of the site and why we carried out the inspection can be found in this Information Pack

The site investigation was undertaken between October 2010 and May 2013. The results of the investigation have shown that the site does not meet the definition of contaminated land under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and that no further investigation or any remediation actions are required at any part of the site.

At the completion of the works The Borough of Poole issued a written statement for the site. This statement contains a summary of all the inspection and assessment actions completed on the site and confirms that the site is not contaminated land.
