Poole's Green Bin Collections About To Start

Borough of Poole residents who have registered for the Garden Waste Collection Service will start to have their green bins collected in March.

The fortnightly collections will start from 4 March and will continue until the end of November.

Residents are asked to place their bins outside their home in a clearly visible location. This makes it easier for the collection crews working during the afternoon and evening to see the bins and empty them.

The bins should also have the 2013 pink sticker displayed which shows the household has paid for the service. Those without a pink sticker will not be emptied.

There is still time to register for this year’s garden waste service. Householders can sign up at a cost of £31 and will receive their bin within two weeks of registration. Access to Leisure and Learning card holders will receive 50 per cent off the first bin ordered (£15.50). Any additional bins ordered will be charged at the full cost of £31.

Councillor Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: "Our Garden Waste Collection Service is proving very popular with our residents. It is also helping to divert material away from landfill, which is expensive for us as taxpayers and harmful to the environment. We would encourage anyone wishing to take advantage of this service to contact us as soon as possible."
