Help Make Poole A Better Place To Live : Core Strategy Review

People in Poole are being invited to influence how their town is developed over the next 20 years.

As part of a review of this document, Borough of Poole is asking residents, businesses and other interested stakeholders for their views on the key issues affecting sustainable development of the town.

Poole’s Core Strategy (2009) sets out the vision, approach and broad principles of development for the town up to 2026. It lays out a plan to deliver sustainable development in Poole that addresses economic, social and environmental issues. It identifies the opportunities for development and provides clear policies on what will or will not be permitted and where. Government legislation requires Local Plans, such as Poole's Core Strategy, to be kept up to date and reviewed regularly.

People can submit their initial views online http://poole-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal/pcsreview or by email to planning@poole.gov.uk (using Core Strategy Review in the subject box) by 5pm on Friday 14 June 2013.

Councillor Mike White, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Inward Investment, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole will see a lot of change over the period to 2031. This will be particularly evident in the town centre and the regeneration areas in West Quay Road and in Lower Hamworthy. We will see the delivery of new homes, jobs and other facilities that will be required to help Poole prosper over the coming years.

"It is important that we listen to the views of local people when developing our strategies for the future to help us guide development and change across the town. This first stage in the review process will flag up the key areas that local people say we need to address. Further public consultation will take place as the review progresses so local people with have more opportunities to have their say."

The review process will take at least two years to complete:

Start of review process                                          May 2013
Evidence gathering and identification of issues     Ongoing 2013
Consultation on Issues and Options                      Winter 2013/2014
Consultation on publication of draft plan               Spring 2014

Examination in Public                                            Summer 2015

Once completed, the Core Strategy Review will provide a planning and community based framework to guide sustainable development in Poole to 2031.
