Beach Team celebrate their Blue Flags

Poole's beaches continue to keep the Blue Flags flying high with four awards as this year's winners are announced.

Beaches at Canford Cliffs, Shore Road, Branksome Chine and Sandbanks will once again be flying the exclusive Blue Flag, recognising them as some of the best in the world.

Sandbanks beach continues to reign supreme and fly its Blue Flag particularly high as it celebrates its 26th year as a Blue Flag beach, having received the award since 1987.
Cllr Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Public Engagement and Participation, Borough of Poole, said: "Everyone in Poole is tremendously proud of our beaches, and we are thrilled they have once again achieved Blue Flag status. We are very privileged to have three and a half miles of beautiful beaches on our doorstep and the council continue to work hard in keeping them to award-winning standards and making them special places to visit and enjoy.

"These awards continue to put Poole on the map as a quality visitor destination and I would like to thank all of our staff and partners for their hard work and dedication to ensure that our outstanding beaches remain world class."

The Blue Flag, awarded annually by the Foundation for Environmental Education, recognises coastal destinations that have achieved the highest quality in water, facilities, safety, commitment to the environment and management.
