Repairs to Poole Bridge

Repair work to Poole Bridge will result in its temporary closure to road traffic.

For two days from Thursday 9 May to Friday 10 May 2013 Poole Bridge will be closed to vehicles to allow for the replacement of the flashing signals, which advise road users that the traffic barriers are being lowered. The bridge will be closed during the morning 9.30 am bridge lift and will re-open after the 11.30 am lift.

Further works to replace the traffic barrier drive units will take place next week.

Pedestrians, cyclists and mariners will be unaffected by these works and there will be no impact on Poole's ferry services. Bus companies have been notified and road users will be advised via electronic message signs in the area.

John Rice, Engineering and Maintenance Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "During routine maintenance work on Poole Bridge we identified that further repairs were required and we have scheduled these works as soon as possible. By closing the bridge during these periods and with the Twin Sails Bridge operating as normal, disruption to road users will be kept to a minimum. We would like to thank local people for their patience and understanding while these works are carried out."
