Still Time To Register For Discounted Garden Waste Service

Over 8,000 Poole residents have already registered for next year’s garden waste service, taking advantage of the discounted rate of £27.95 available until 11 December 2013.

The fortnightly green bin collections run from March to November and are available to every household in the borough. Registrations received after midnight on 11 December will be charged the standard price of £31. However, anyone with an Access to Leisure and Learning Card will still be entitled to a 50% discount on the first bin ordered, making the scheme just £15.50. Further bins purchased prior to 11 December will be charged at the discounted rate of £27.95 or £31 after this date.

Councillor Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for a Prosperous and Sustainable Poole, Borough of Poole, said: "Since registration opened on 1 October we have had a fantastic take-up of this scheme. This clearly shows how much people value the garden waste service. Most importantly it is diverting green waste away from expensive landfill sites that we all have to pay for. It's important we continue building on the success of this service and by offering a discount to those residents who register early we hope to do that. I would encourage people to register before 11 December."

Over 21,000 residents signed up for the service in 2013, enabling over 5,000 tonnes of garden waste to be recycled.
