Have Fun At The Family Arts Festival

Borough of Poole has launched a fortnight of exciting arts and activities as it takes part in the UK- wide Family Arts Festival.
Running from 18 October to 3 November this national festival is taking place in over 200 venues across the country with a programme of over 1000 family-friendly events in music, theatre, dance circus and visual arts. It aims to build momentum from the London 2012 Festival and Cultural Olympiad in building new arts audiences.

Across Poole's libraries there is a packed schedule of almost thirty free family events running throughout the festival.

If crafts are your thing then join Oakdale Library on 29 October for ‘Knit and Sew Have a Go’. Or enjoy some Charlie and Lola themed crafts and stories at our Booktime drop-in event for Reception aged children at Rossmore Library on 30 October. On 1 November children’s author and illustrator Sue Stegall will visit Poole Library and help children create their own collage.

Upton Country Park is joining in the fun with the Family Zumba Festival on 28 October. You can also dance your way to fitness with Beatbudz at Broadstone Library on 2 November.

Cllr Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Public Engagement and Participation, Borough of Poole, said: "It's brilliant that our libraries are supporting the Family Arts festival, involving the whole of the family in creative activities. Fingers crossed it stays dry for the Family Zumba Festival at our fantastic Upton Country Park. I hope many people as possible will find an event that takes their fancy during this great national festival which Poole is proud to be part of."
We would love to find out where your favourite place to read is in Poole, and also what you are reading. So pop into your local branch during the festival and tell us! Or you can tweet us @PooleLibraries.
