Your Borough Of Poole

Your Chance To Help Shape Community Involvement

Residents in Poole are being given the opportunity to comment on how they would like to be involved in shaping and influencing future changes to Poole and their local area.

Borough of Poole's Planning and Regeneration Services is making their Revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) available for public consultation.

The purpose of the SCI is to set out how individuals, the community and other stakeholders can be involved in shaping places where they live and work in the future. It also sets out how future engagement with local people will be carried out on a range of planning matters. In particular how the council will:

•   involve and engage with individuals, the community and other stakeholders in the preparation of relevant Local Development Plan documents

•   consider how the community can be involved in the process for reviewing planning applications for development

People are invited to give their comments on the draft SCI document, which is available to view and download from www.boroughofpoole.com/StatementofCommunityInvolvement. A paper copy will also be available to view in the reception area of the Council's Planning and Regeneration Department at the Civic Centre and at all Poole libraries.

The consultation, which will run for a period of six-weeks, started on Friday 25 October and will close on Friday 6 December 2013.

Stephen Thorne, Head of Planning and Regeneration, Borough of Poole, said: "This consultation provides an ideal opportunity for local people to tell us how they would like to be involved when future changes to Poole are being considered. It is important we ensure that the ways in which we consult and engage are as inclusive as possible, so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in resolving the challenging planning issues that Poole will face over the coming years."
