Dance Into Autumn

If you’re feeling chilled by the turn in the weather then why not warm the tips of your toes with a spin on the dance floor on Thursday 19 September?

Poole Arts Service invites people of all ages to join them for an autumn tea dance at Lighthouse, Poole's Centre for the Arts, between 2-4pm featuring a trio of professional musicians from BSO Resonate. Playing everything from waltzes to tango, jive and jazz, the band provides the perfect accompaniment for a trip down memory lane, some healthy exercise and of course a lovely cup of tea.

Anna Shiels, Poole Arts Service, Borough of Poole, said: "Tea Dances are a great way to meet new people, keep fit and have fun. There’s no need to worry about not having a partner or whether you can dance, our fantastic team of volunteers will make sure that everyone is made to feel welcome."

Tickets cost £5.50 (Access to Leisure cardholders £4.50; free for accompanying carers) and are available in advance from Lighthouse on 0844 406 8666. Ticket price includes tea and biscuits.

Cllr Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Public Engagement and Participation, Borough of Poole, said: "It is important for all of us to keep physically and socially active, and this is especially so as we grow older. The tea dances provide a friendly and welcoming environment for anyone wanting to get out of the house and meet new people. What’s more, you can be sure of some excellent quality live music."

Two winter warmer tea dances are scheduled for 21 November and 23 January 2013, with spring and summer tea dances scheduled for 20 March and 29 May 2014.

Tea dances are organised by Poole Arts Service, in association with Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts and BSO Resonate.
