Major improvement works completed at Panorama Road

Major strengthening and resurfacing works at Panorama Road have been completed in time for the reopening of Sandbanks Chain Ferry next week.

The road has now been fully reopened to all road users and the one-way system reinstated, following the extensive works which have been carried out over the last four weeks.

Some minor works will still continue at the junction of Banks Road and Panorama Road until 5 December, but these will cause minimal disruption to road users.

John Rice, Engineering Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “The improvement works have been undertaken as quickly as possible to minimise disruption to road users. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this time.

“This is the last major road project to be undertaken in the town in this financial year and we are pleased that the works have been completed before the ferry resumes operation after its winter overhaul.”

The works, which cost £280,000, required the removal of the worn out road surface, exposing the old concrete road underneath and repairing it as necessary, before a new reinforced asphalt surfacing, which has a 30 year design life, was laid.
