Planning Application Submitted For A Temporary Stopping Place In Oakdale

A planning application has been submitted for a second proposed temporary stopping place for unauthorised encampments in Poole.

The application for a site on land north of the B&Q car park in Oakdale, was made by Borough of Poole's Environmental and Consumer Protection Services (ECPS).

It is proposed that the site could provide 4 pitches for travelling families and vehicles.

As part of the process, local people can give their views on the proposals. The full application (APP/14/00171/F) can be viewed online at boroughofpoole.com/planningapplications.

Peter Haikin, Regulatory Services Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "We appreciate local residents may have some concerns and would encourage everyone to submit any comments about the planning application to the Planning Department."

If approved, the Local Authority will be able to use the site for a temporary period between Good Friday and 15 September 2014. Travellers will not be directed to the site after 1 September. The site will remain closed for the rest of the year.

Councillors voted to support proposals for temporary stopping places at sites in Creekmoor and Oakdale at an extraordinary meeting of Full Council on Monday 27 January 2014.

A planning application for a temporary stopping place on land at Marshes End (Safety Drive), opposite the new Fire Station in Creekmoor was submitted on 31 January.
