Cabinet Recommends Full Council Progress Temporary Stopping Place

Borough of Poole's Cabinet has recommended that an emergency Full Council meeting be convened to make the decision regarding a Temporary Stopping Place (TSP) in Poole.

Cabinet Members felt the decision was of such public importance that it was crucial to involve all 42 Members in the final decision.

Therefore the decision required was amended and will now be made by Full Council. Members will also request that the Mayor convenes an extraordinary Full Council meeting at the earliest possible opportunity.

Cllr Mike White, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Planning, Borough of Poole, said: "Full Council made the decision to identify a temporary stopping place in Poole in December 2013. Therefore, given the widespread public interest in this proposal, Cabinet felt it was appropriate that the final decision regarding which sites to progress was referred to Full Council.

"We will be speaking with the Mayor at the earliest opportunity with regards to a possible date for the Full Council meeting being convened."

Two sites have been shortlisted and if approved by Members, planning applications will be submitted by the Council’s Environment and Consumer Protection Services to enable the provision of temporary stopping places by the summer.
