My Life My Care website launches across Dorset

Help and support for Dorset’s residents is one step closer with a new online guide that provides information about adult social care and community services.

‘My Life My Care’ aims to help people lead independent lives with the support they need to do so. The site has a wide range of information, from how to access help around the home to personal care services, from dealing with money worries to keeping mobile and staying safe.

There are also tips and advice on health and wellbeing, as well as information about transport, home adaptations, daily living aids and much more to help people make informed choices.

The website has been developed by Dorset County Council in partnership with Bournemouth Borough Council and Borough of Poole, and is for all adults in Dorset, whether they qualify for financial support or pay for their own care.

Visitors can search for support and services in a number of ways, by using keywords in the search box, by selecting statements that most closely matches their needs, or they can look at solutions to the most common problems, or look at examples of how others have found help.   There are links to council services as well as details of private care agencies which also provide care and support services.

It is accessible online, including via mobiles and tablets, and people can text and email information directly from the site.

There is also a strong focus on carers so they can find the support they may need for themselves, including respite care, financial assessments and carers support programmes.
