Your Future - Your Choice: young people to benefit from advice at new event

Young people across Poole and Bournemouth will be able to find out more about the options available to them at an event this February. Taking place at The Lighthouse on Thursday 5 February from 3pm to 8pm, Your Future – Your Choice will present a host of options when it comes to training, careers and education.

Young people and their parents or carers who visit the free event will be able to take advantage of advice on the options available after GCSEs, from training and apprenticeships to further study or entering the world of work. Information about a wide variety of qualifications will also be available, as well as advice on where these could lead in a future career.

Representatives from schools, colleges and training providers will all be on hand to help visitors explore the options available to them. Local employers will also be in attendance, setting out the skills they are looking for and advising on their sectors and qualifications as well as routes into employment, whether you are looking for work immediately or will be undertaking further study first.

Cllr Janet Walton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Families, Borough of Poole, said: “We’re pleased to be able to support the young people of Poole with this new event. There are so many options available to explore, and some very interesting alternatives available to those who would prefer not to go to university but instead would like to explore the opportunities for learning and earning.

“Our young people are of great importance to us, and we look forward to helping them make the best choice for their future.”

The event is free and is open to all young people from the local area, as well as their parents and carers. All advice on offer is impartial, with schools, employers and training providers offering detail on all available options.Further information on the options available can be found on the Poole Family Information Directory or contact the Bournemouth and Poole 14-19 Team on 01202 458 239.
