Go green at Sustainable Poole Day

Energy-saving solutions will be on show at the first ever Sustainable Poole Day on Thursday 25 June 2015 in Poole Park.

Sustainable Poole Day is a free event designed to help you residents and visitors find out more about how we can all work to save energy in our daily lives.

The event marks EU Sustainable Energy Week, an annual event which takes place all over Europe and beyond in June, helping to promote energy saving solutions and other environmentally-friendly activities in local communities.

Sustainable transport will be on show, with free bike servicing and the chance to take part in the Cycle Challenge with a specially-designed cycle trail. Visitors will have the chance to make their own smoothie on the special smoothie bike and plant their own seeding, as well as learning more about local initiatives including recycling, composting, growing sustainable food, solar power and other energy saving solutions.

Cllr John Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment and Consumer Protection, Borough of Poole, said: “We’re looking forward to showcasing some of the great local energy-saving initiatives at the first Sustainable Poole Day. We can all do our bit when it comes to helping Poole become a little greener, and we’d encourage residents to come along and find out more.”

Sustainable Poole Day takes place from 11am – 6pm on the cricket ground in Poole Park. Final bike servicing will take place at 5.45pm.
