Register for Poole's 2016 extended garden waste service now

Green fingered residents in Poole can now sign up to next year's garden waste service which has been extended to include an additional three collections.

Following feedback from residents, Cabinet agreed to extend the scheme for 2016 by a further six weeks, increasing collections from 19 to 22.

Collections are fortnightly, running from February to December and are available to every household in the borough.

Residents wishing to receive all 22 collections for the standard price of £37.55 per 240 litre bin must register by 10 December 2015. Access to Leisure and Learning cardholders are entitled to a 50 per cent discount on the first bin ordered, making the service just £18.75.

The charges for the 2016 garden waste collection service have received an inflationary increase of 2.2 per cent compared to last year, agreed by Cabinet at their meeting on 28 July 2015.

Cllr John Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment and Consumer Protection, Borough of Poole, said: "The garden waste scheme remains very popular among residents with an increase in subscriptions annually. We are pleased to have been able to offer an extended service for the coming year following customer requests to cover periods of very late leaf fall.

"Despite the small increase in the charge made for 2016, Poole residents can still expect a great service that has been improved further and continues to offer good value for money."

It is expected that more than 6,500 tonnes of garden waste will be collected and recycled from 22,436 bins since the start of this year's service in March.
