Borough of Poole’s successful bid for nursery funding

Borough of Poole has been successful in bidding for Government funding to support the provision of free childcare for three and four year olds in the town.

The bids were developed last year after the Education Funding Agency announced the availability of capital funding to support delivery of the Government’s commitment to 30 hours of free childcare for working parents of three and four year olds from September 2017.

A total amount of £627,398 has now been awarded across the two successful projects. These are:

  • Cuddles Day Nursery Canford Heath – funding of £381,168 for the creation of 104 new 30 hour places from September 2017
  • Cuddles Day Nursery Rossmore – funding of £246,230 for the creation of 52 new 30 hour places from September 2017

The money will now be used alongside additional funds from the nursery provider to extend their buildings so that more places can be created. When complete, the funding will support working families in the Canford Heath and Rossmore communities.

Councillor Mike White, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People and Capital Projects, Borough of Poole, said: “This is great news for working families in Poole, providing them with an increase in good quality childcare available for local children.”

Linda Duly, the proprietor of Cuddles said: “We are delighted that the bids have been successful and are already looking forward to welcoming more children to the two nurseries later this year.”
